Here is what we do as we serve in Canada – a quick explanation of our ministry role

What is the “why” for what we do?

We are all called to make disciples – across the street, or across the globe.  Our desire is to find and equip people whom God is calling to serve cross culturally.

There are still billions of people who don’t know Jesus and have little or no opportunity to hear the Gospel.  That number is overwhelming – but not to God.  He is calling individuals to join Him in reaching the nations with the Gospel.  That is part of our role as mission coaches for SEND International.

We come alongside to mentor and equip believers, pastors and churches as they seek to follow God’s call on their lives and obey the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-22; Acts 1:8)

Whom are we looking for?

Our primary role is to mobilize (or recruit) Goers and Senders.  We connect with people who are interested in missions from various places:

  • People who find us or SEND on the internet, as they explore missions;
  • Contacts we make at missions conferences in western Canada; and
  • People and students we meet at colleges and across Canada.

What happens after we connect with them?

Introductions and connections can be in person, on zoom, telephone or by email. This process takes some time:

  • Ongoing interaction and discussion
  • Start the application process
  • Alternatively, connect them with another mission organization which will be better able to facilitate the ministry God is calling them to.

What do we do in college campuses?151023 John PRBI missions conference_09a

We visit colleges and universities across western Canada, a few times a year:

  • John speaks in chapels, seminars, etc
  • We mentor students in their walk with Christ and as they seek what God would have them do.
  • We organize and facilitate overseas  mission trips for students going for extended periods to fulfill internship requirements.

How do we equip the local church for missions?

  • We serve as the bridge between SEND and the local church for enabling cross cultural ministry opportunities.
  • Cross-cultural missions can also happen across the street.  With people from all over the world moving into our neighborhoods, missions is possible both there & here.
  • We serve as the link between the local church and the missionaries that they support.  In this way, we and the church are able to provide the missionary worker with excellent care – both on and off the field.
  • We build relationships and keep updated with SEND’s workers in the field so that we can properly represent them and the ministry opportunities in their area.

What are the steps in the application process for short-, medium- and long-term service with SEND?

We basically become “missions coaches” from the time they contact us, apply, prepare, train, and get on the plane!  This coaching includes:

  • Help facilitate their application processing
  • Coordinating their training and preparation
  • Helping them set-up and build their support teams (prayer and financial support)
  • Guiding them through the paperwork (visas, medical etc) that re involved in living overseas
  • For short-term mission Goers, we follow up and debrief them after they return

Through all these, we seek to serve, that others might come to know Christ and to grow in their walk with Him.

Would you prayerfully consider joining our financial support team?.
